In the Beginning . . .

The first two-year college in the greater Denver area!

1964 Littleton residents presented proposal to the local school districts
1965 voters cast their ballots
1965 Arapahoe Junior College opened its doors to 550 students
1970 Joins the Colorado Community Colleges and Occupational Education System, given the name Arapahoe Community College (ACC)

Where We Are Today . . .

  • Currently has over 7,500 students and 70 degree and certificate programs.
  • Majority of classes held in the Main building completed in 1974. Annex added in 1977 with additional classrooms, laboratories, an art gallery, shop areas and all physical education facilities including gymnasium, swimming pool, and Fitness Center.
  • Art and Design Center (Alamo) acquired 1990, home to ACC's art, fine art, design, and technology programs.
  • 51-acre campus located in Littleton, Colorado, adjacent to downtown area. Enjoy panoramic views of the Colorado Rockies. City of Denver lies 10 miles due north.
  • Classes also available at Colorado Center for Professional Development in Greenwood Village and at other sites in the south Metro Denver area.
  • Through a unique consortium of Arapahoe Community College, the University of Colorado at Denver, the University of Denver and the Douglas County School District, the University Center of Chaparral near Parker opened in spring 2001.
  • Distance learning, with web-based instruction and other technology continues to expand.

Arapahoe Community College is accredited by the Commission on Institutions of Higher Education of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, 30 N. LaSalle Street, Suite 2400, Chicago, Illinois, 312.263.7420. In addition, numerous programs hold specialized accreditation from professional accrediting agencies.
