Basic Drawing

Jumpstart Your Sketching

Beginning/Intermediate Oil Painting

Ever felt lost or frustrated in a painting class? Not here! Valorie has developed a comprehensive curriculum which takes you from basic information such as types of brushes and how to apply paint, and moves into painting techniques and color theory. Choose your own subjects as you complete assigned exercises and progress at your pace. If you have painted before, you can build on what you already know and fill in information you may have missed in previous art classes. Beginning Watercolor

A Dip Into Art

This is your chance to try 6 different media each week including charcoal, pastel, watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, and pen and ink. Discover the fun of each technique. Animate Your Chair!

A chair can be more than a place to sit. It can become a piece of sculpture that is as unique as you are. Express yourself using fabrics, old clothing, and acrylic paint and transform a wood chair into a work of art. Bring a wood chair and scraps of fabrics, recycled jewelry and clothing to class. Johanna Goodman is a nationally known mixed media artist and has created over 1,000 chairs: many have been commissioned and are in private collections such as the Smithsonian Museum.

Glass and fire has fascinated people all over the world. In this hands-on glass blowing workshop, learn how to manipulate molten glass on a blow pipe and solid rod using glass blowing tools while incorporating color to create a paperweight and shot glass. You receive individual guidance from the instructor while gaining a working knowledge behind the principle of glass blowing. Health and safety issues are discussed. No prior experience needed. Material fee covers booklet, community color palette, and other supplies. This course is not appropriate if you are pregnant or have physical limitations. Enhance your knowledge and skills in the ancient art of glass blowing. Designed for the un-intimidated beginner student who wants to create with hot glass, discover the highlights on the physical handling of off-hand glass blowing techniques, color techniques and patterns. Follow criteria of hands-on assignments and create solid paperweights, drinking glasses, vases and bowls. Demonstrate your knowledge by completing a test and reports to receive a certificate. Develop awareness of balance and three-dimensional forms. Team work is essential as you keep detailed notes and project sketchbook. This course is not appropriate if you are pregnant or have physical limitations. You will meet with the instructor one week prior to the class start date to pay for the material/book fee and discuss what to wear and other items. Once the class begins, students may get a 75% refund until February 5, 2009. NO REFUNDS GIVEN AFTER THAT DATE.

Beginning and Beyond Woodworking-Littleton

This is an open woodworking class for novice or advanced students. The first class focuses on a safety review for novice students. More advanced students should plan a review of safety procedures. Create a small project of your choice as you develop proficiency in using power and hand tools including table saw, band saw, lathe, joiner and planer. One small project required.
