Beginning ASL I

Learn basic greetings and vocabulary in a fun way. Discover the hidden language the ASL deaf people use through visual games, quizzes, and not using voice. CHINESE
Beginning Mandarin Chinese I
Holly Yang— Holly Yang
A practical, useful, and effective course if your life has anything to do with China. Learn about the standard Pin-Yin pronunciation system, basic grammar, common expressions and vocabulary for travel, business, education and personal pleasure. Chinese culture and character writing system are introduced. Course materials cover both Chinese I and II.
Holly Yang has over 20 years of teaching experience with two Master’s degrees in Chinese Language and Literature from Shanghai Teachers’ University and University of Washington.

Beginning Mandarin Chinese II

DUTCH
Dutch for Travelers
Kees Janse-Kok
Practice a mixture of basic grammar, simple words and sentences, and practical conversation, gradually increasing as you learn more points of grammar. Explore the Netherlands through video segments and the instructor’s personal experiences from his youth and later travels in Holland. An optional feature to help you learn the language is written homework to be e-mailed to the instructor. E-mailed questions are welcome. A written overview of each lesson is provided in case you miss a class.

French for Travelers

Begin with very simple sentences (salutations and goodbye’s) and progress as you learn more vocabulary. Watch a video with people discussing situations (written text with translation provided), discuss areas of France, driving by car and asking for directions in the streets and on the highways. Exploring the castles on the Loire and details about the Cather region’s turbulent history provides a change of pace in the classroom. A written overview of each lesson is provided in case you miss a class. Kees lived and worked in Paris and is able to provide information about doing business in France.
