Thank you for your interest in the Automotive Technology program at Arapahoe Community College. Our mission is to be the premier provider of qualified automotive technicians in the Rocky Mountain region.

The 2-year Automotive A.A.S. (Associate of Applied Science) and Certificate degree programs are designed to train students for employment in the automotive service industry as technicians and prepare students for the ASE (Automotive Service Excellence) certification examinations.

Automotive training is organized into four “Tracks” that students may pursue:

  • ASEP - GM- specific program (Automotive Service Educational Apprenticeship Program) www.gmasep.com/
  • CAP - Chrysler-specific program (Chrysler College Apprenticeship Program) http://www.chryslercap.com/
  • NISSAN - Nissan-specific program (Nissan Denver Technician Apprenticeship Program)
  • ATEC - General college program (Automotive Service Technology Program, Independent Apprenticeship Program)

Students in this program must pursue an Associate of Applied Science degree, which does require academic classes. All students are required to meet with the program’s Director for acceptance into the program. If advising is needed, call our office.

Corporate programs require that the student work as an apprentice in a GM, Chrysler, or Nissan dealership. ATEC students are required to work as an apprentice for one of the other manufacturers or independent general automotive repair facilities. While we do not have a formal placement program, we are able to offer assistance in obtaining a job while attending the program.

To be eligible for acceptance into the program, a student must also take a department administered automotive assessment test and pass an industry standard MVR, background, and urinalysis check. Please access the American Data Web site at http://accautotechscreening.com.

Tools are provided by the Automotive Technology Department for use during classes.

If you have questions call 303.797.5846 or e-mail automotive@arapahoe.edu.
