You have the opportunity to enter this cutting edge field as more agencies are looking to serve their citizens more effectively and efficiently.

• Are you interested in law enforcement but don’t want to become a police officer?
• Are you analytical? An excellent researcher? Good with computers?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then crime analysis may be the career you’re looking for! Our program was created in cooperation with the International Association of Crime Analysts.

By combining research, criminology theory and the latest in computer software systems (such as ArcGIS, desktop publishing, and word processing), crime analysts identify problems, develop solutions and recommend resource allocations all of which assist law enforcement officers in doing their job more efficiently.

In fact, the September, 2008, issue of The Police Chief, published by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), featured the value and impact crime analysts can have on law enforcement. We’ve received permission to reprint the articles below to help you, the prospective student, decide if this career path is right for you. Please note that ACC’s Crime Analysis Certificate program is not being endorsed by either The Police Chief magazine or the IACP.
