Earnings Potential /Work Hours

  • $29,000-$35,000 Entry Level
  • Normally 8am to 5pm Monday - Friday.

Skills You Will Need

You will need to learn medical terminology, anatomy/physiology and pathophysiology in order to understand the disease classification coding systems of ICD-9-CM and CPT which are used for billing and research. Because computerized medical records will be a part of our future, you will also need to have good computer skills.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, job openings are expected to grow faster than average in the field of Health Information Management. Job opportunities are found in hospitals, clinics, physician offices, insurance companies, long term care facilities, public health departments, health maintenance organizations, and consulting firms.
