Frequently Asked Questions: Online Learning
How do I login to my online classes?
How often will I need to visit the campus?
Depending on the course you may need to come to campus to buy textbooks
and other instructional material, attend a mandatory orientation
session, use the library, view videos and to take tests or exams.
In those cases, you may come to campus any time during the duration
of the class. In some cases, all class requirements may be met at
a distance.
Is there an instructor?
Your instructor maintains all the on-line course components during
the semester. Additionally, your instructor is available by e-mail
to answer questions and discuss assignments.
How do I take exams?
In most classes you will be taking your tests online. A link will
be made available by the instructor that will lead you to the test
when you click on it. After taking the test, you will also submit
the test online.
If you are in a hybrid class (which meets for some portion of the
time in a classroom) you may be required to come to campus to take
some or all of your exams during your regular class session.
How much time should I expect to spend in an online course?
Generally, expect to spend at least as much time as you would in
an on-campus section of the course (about 2.5 hours a week for each
credit during a 15-week term for the average student to earn a C;
that's about 7.5 hours a week for a 3-credit course; allow proportionally
more time if the term is shorter).
